Do you have Cystic Acne?
Cystic acne is different than the usual blackheads and whiteheads. These types of acne are on top of the skin’s surface. Cystic acne is when cysts form deep underneath your skin.
Why does this happen? The reason is bacteria, oil, and dry skin cells get trapped in your pores.
It can affect anyone but cystic acne occurs mostly in people with oily skin. It occurs mainly in teens, women, and adults with hormonal imbalances. Cystic acne is usually large and deep within the skin.
Cystic acne often looks like a boil.
Does your acne have:
- large pus-filled cyst
- large white bumps
- lots of redness around it
- Bumps are tender or painful
Acne cysts are usually a lot larger than the usual acne. It can also appear on other parts of the body such as the chest, shoulders, back, and arms.
How can you help prevent it?
Cleanse/wash your face in the morning and evening to remove dirt and oil. NuCelle Mandelic Wash is gentle and has mandelic acid to help remove dead skin cells.
Another treatment we recommend is our 15% Mandelic Acid Serum that eliminates the build-up of dead, dull and dry skin cells. The acid weakens the bond of these cells which is effective in removing layers of dead skin cells.
Avoid touching or picking at the acne. It will just add more bacteria and irritate the acne making it more inflamed
Try to use makeup products and moisturizers like our Mandelic Moisture Shine-Control that are oil free to prevent further oil buildup. Also never go to bed without washing off your makeup!
If possible it is always best to get the advice of a dermatologist. They can provide you with other treatments options to help with your cystic acne.
